I am a huge fan of milkshake and Oreos, so it is inevitable that I will create my very own Oreo milkshake. For years, I had been toying around with the "cookies & cream" milkshake theme and finally, just 2017, I found the right ratio, ingredients and technique. I thought it is about time I share with you fine people. I know it is very simple; blitz up ice-cream and Oreo cookies, but most of the time, the flavors don't really complement one another so well. It is either you get an overly-sugary-milkshake or a very blend milkshake.
I was toying with the theme so much that I even made cookies cups for the Oreo milkshake. I made that way back on 25th Dec 2014. The kids of cos, love them, but me, on the other hand, wasn't too satisfied with the flavors. The milkshake is overly sweet and the cookie cups don't necessary help in any way. That's when I decided to start a mission to perfect it.
It was like Thor had cast a lightning bolt thru' my mind; I was sipping my usual cup of Joe one morning while munching down some Oreo (I was too lazy to make myself a proper brunch), I was thinking, is this it? The bitterness of the coffee might just be the answer to my mission. Without much hesitation, I literally blitz my coffee with Oreo that very minute. It really did tone down the sweetness but still lack that punch. After many trials and errors over the years, I finally did it. Everything is written in the recipe below. I really hope you will give this perfect Oreo milkshake a try.
PS: I know this milkshake is a bit over the top, but hey, if you wanna sin, at least do it properly.
Oreo Cookies, 15
High Quality Coconut Ice Cream Preferably Dairy-Free, 160g
Coconut Milk, 1/3 Cup
Coconut Rum, 1/8 Cup
High Quality Italian Coffee Liqueur, 1/4 Cup
Oreo Cookies, 5 or More
Whipped Cream, For Garnishing
Wafer Stick, 1
Cookies & Cream Chocolate Bar Preferably Hershey's, 1
16oz Mason Jar
Separate the 5 Oreo cookies from the cream fillings.
Spread and smear the cream fillings onto the lips of the jar.
Crush the Oreo cookies with a pestle and mortar.
Smear the crushed Oreo onto the smeared fillings.
Chill the mason jar in the fridge until ready to use.
Prepare the milkshake.
In a blender, add in the 15 Oreo, ice cream, milk, rum and coffee liqueur.
Pulse the mixture a few times to break up the ice-cream.
Blitz it up to combine the mixture.
*As soon as you see the mixture is combined well, stop blitzing. Over-blitzing will cause the ice-cream to melt super fast and causing it to split.*
Pour into the chilled mason jar.
Garnish with whipped cream.
Sprinkle some more of that crushed Oreo over the top.
Serve immediately with a wafer stick, cookies and cream chocolate bar.
