Another request from one of my Instagramers. Behold! The mint chocolate chips milkshake! This is another great combination discovery by humanity; mint and chocolate are like a match-made-in-heaven. They compliment each other very well. You get the fresh minty aroma and even on the palette, then the deep-dark-semi-sweet from the chocolate sorta gives you a punch at the back of the mouth. But, in order to get it right, you will need to use the best ingredients that you can find. Definitely not from some manufactured syrup, nope, not even a mint extract.
Please use fresh mint for this milkshake. It will make a huge difference as compared to a mint extract. I also used green food coloring to sorta give the milkshake it's an identity of being "mint". I do not trust those commercial food coloring tho, if you can, please get your hands on natural and organic ones. Well, at least you know what are the ingredients used to make the coloring. This is probably the best milkshake I had done so far. Probably. As I made 3 glasses of this for myself and my 2 daughters (usually, I just made 1 glass of milkshake and the 3 of us will share, but for this time, we wanted an individual glass. It is that good). I hope you will give this recipe a try.
Fresh Mint, A Good Handful + More For Garnishing
High Quality Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, 160g
Whole Milk, 1/3 Cup
High Quality Dark Chocolate Chips Preferably Valrhona, 40g
Green Food Coloring Preferably Natural & Organic, 1 Drop
Whipped Cream, For Garnishing
High Quality Cocoa Powder Preferably Valrhona, For Dusting
Chill serving glass in the fridge until ready to serve.
Take a good handful of fresh mint and smack them with your hands. This will release it's flavor even more. Add into the blender.
Add ice cream, milk, chocolate and food coloring into the blender as well.
Blitz until smooth.
*As soon as you see the mixture is combined well, stop blitzing. Over-blitzing will cause the ice-cream to melt super fast and causing it to split.*
Pour milkshake into serving glass.
Top with whipped cream.
Dust some cocoa powder over the top.
Garnish with some mint leaves.
