This marks my 3rd cold brewed tea recipe. I love my coffee but sometimes when I am in the mood, I would prepare myself some cold brewed tea. I fell in love with cold brewing. The process of cold brewing leaves a gentle bitter note rather than the boil-brewing method which tends to make the cup of tea bitter.
You can use any type of sweetener as you desire; honey or maple syrup. I am using palm sugar syrup. To put on a show, I decided to make it 3 layered. 1st is the sweetener as it is the heaviest, follow by milk and lastly tea. The trick is to pour each element slowly into serving glass. Viola! You have one of the most beautiful cup of tea you ever drink. Without much delay, let's get started with the recipe.
(Make 1 serving)
Good Quality Red Tea Bags, 3
Filtered Cold Water, 500ml
Palm Sugar, 20g
Ice Cubes, 1 Heaped Scoop Or More
Evaporated Milk, 1/4 Cup
In a pitcher add in tea bags and water.
Cover and chill in the fridge at least 6 hours or preferably overnight.
*But no more than 12 hours or the cold brewed tea will become bitter.*
Before serving, chill serving glass in the fridge.
When ready to serve, remove and discard tea bags.
Chill serving glass in the fridge until ready to use.
In a sauce pan over medium heat, add palm sugar and water.
Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
The syrup will start to thicken as it cools.
Add the palm sugar syrup into serving glass.
Fill glass with ice cubes to the brim.
Slowly, pour in the milk.
Slowly, pour in the tea thru' a strainer.
